Providing the education they deserve—wherever they learn.
We offer a fully accountable, bespoke timetable combining live online teaching, targeted 1:1 support, and structured independent study—mapped to national curriculum and qualifications, with safeguarding and attendance compliance built in.
We deliver a full, broad and balanced curriculum, offering the Rosewood Curriculum. Our topic-based curriculum integrates three bands of learning to offer a well-rounded, balanced, and comprehensive educational experience. It equips students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in our constantly evolving world, on a local and global level.
Our curriculum is designed to balance academic achievement with the well-being of students by prioritising mental health, outdoor experiences, and essential life skills alongside core subjects. It integrates regular outdoor activities and nature-based learning, encouraging students to connect with their environment while promoting physical health, stress reduction, and creativity. Mental health support is woven throughout, with dedicated time for mindfulness, emotional resilience, and self-care practices. Additionally, the curriculum emphasises practical life skills like financial literacy, communication, and critical thinking, ensuring that students are prepared for real-world challenges.
A welcome from our Director
Rosewood Virtual Academy is led by the team that founded and runs Rosewood Independent School—an established, trauma-informed special school with a strong track record of safe, personalised provision. Drawing on that experience, we systematically identify the gaps faced by children who cannot attend a physical setting—whether due to medical needs, anxiety, risk, or transition—and design programmes that close those gaps.
Our model combines rigorous assessment, flexible timetabling, multi-agency coordination and clear, measurable targets so every plan is both bespoke and accountable. The result is a complete education pathway that maintains safeguarding and attendance compliance while restoring access to learning and meaningful progress.
“It is a privilege to introduce you to Rosewood Virtual Academy- founded on passion, purpose, and the unwavering belief that every child deserves access to education in a way that works for them. Children are not the same- their education should be as unique as they are.
My career has always been driven by a deep commitment to providing access to education — education is a powerful tool for change. Before founding Rosewood Independent Special School and Total Tuition Alternative Provision, I worked as a teacher, travelled extensively, and for over 15 years led an educational charity supporting children living in remand homes and street child centres in Kenya. These experiences profoundly shaped my conviction that education must be inclusive, trauma-informed, rooted in compassion; but most of all, delivery must work for the child. Children do not learn if they are not engaged.
I am incredibly proud of the successes that my existing settings have already achieved. Every day, I hear wonderful reports of how our students — many of whom have faced significant challenges — access their right to learn, to grow, and to pursue ambitions that once may have felt out of reach. I believe that every child, regardless of their starting point, should be encouraged to aim high, to dream big, and to know they are capable of achieving greatness. The small steps needed to reach larger goals are celebrated every day.
Our ethos is simple: connection comes first. By building trusting relationships, by understanding each young person's story, and by creating safe and supportive spaces, we lay the foundations for true educational success. We champion a trauma-informed approach across all aspects of our work, and we are equally committed to nurturing and growing our staff, providing opportunities for professional development and career progression within a caring and dynamic team.”
